No Other Way

Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."
--John 14:6
New International Version

THOUGHTS ABOUT TODAY'S VERSE
I don't want to be any more exclusive than Jesus.  But I do want to hear his voice.  He calls me to find the way to the Father through him.  I must also know that others must know him to find their way to the Father, too. How can we not be more passionate about those around us who do not really know Jesus as their Savior, Redeemer, Brother, and Lord?  How can the first four books of our New Testament lie unread?

MY PRAYER
Holy God and Righteous Father, give me a passion for Jesus and a heart that knows him in word, deed, and concern. Through him I pray.  Amen.
Be Big-Hearted Like God

There is one who scatters, yet increases more; and there is one who withholds more than is right, but it leads to poverty.
Proverbs 11:24

When God made this world, He made it with more than enough of everything we need. He splurged! He is an extravagant God. He is not going to wake up one day and say, “My goodness, I forgot to put enough oil in the earth!” Let me tell you this: God is never caught off guard. He has more than enough supply for all your needs in this world!

I want you to know today that your loving heavenly Father is a big-hearted, generous God of abundance. When you have a revelation of how He is so full of love, power and provision, you won’t live life constantly worried about your needs, or envious of others when you see them blessed. When you know that all of heaven’s resources are yours to enjoy because of the cross of Jesus, you can have a generous heart, a big heart, like your Daddy God. And according to today’s verse, when you have a big heart, you become a candidate for even more that God has.

So meditate on God’s abundance toward you and open up your heart today. Be a giver. Be a blessing. Rejoice with others when they are blessed. See yourself blessed and provided for because of Jesus and before long, you will see it on the outside!

Gracious Speech At The Appropriate Time

A man finds joy in giving an apt reply -- and how good is a timely word!
--Proverbs 15:23
New International Version

THOUGHTS ABOUT TODAY'S VERSE
Knowing the right word at the right time is a great gift. But even the best of speakers has to admit that the best of his or her words are not nearly as good as those the Spirit gives. Nevertheless, we must not excuse ourselves of insensitive speech, unkindness, or even missed opportunities because we were not paying attention to what was said, were not spiritually in tune with the needs of our companions, or simply did not know Scripture well enough to bless others with gracious speech at the appropriate time.

MY PRAYER
Loving Shepherd, I will spend much of my time today with people. Some of them know you, but most do not. Please give me wisdom to say things that lead people closer to you. Give me words of help and hope for the broken. Give me words of tenderness for the fainting. Give me words of direction for the confused. Father, I pray that whatever words I say today may reflect your will and be led by your purposes. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.
Dream Beyond

Today's Scripture:
I lift up my eyes to the hills…
Psalm 121:1, NIV.

Today's Word:
So many people today are stuck in a rut. It’s not because they aren’t talented; it’s not because they don’t have God’s favor, but it’s because their vision is limited. They can’t see beyond their circumstances. They don’t see themselves accomplishing their dreams, being promoted or living healthier. They just see more of the same because it’s what they are focused on. What you see is what you’re going to move toward.

The truth is, we all have vision. Every one of us has a picture in our mind of our self, our family and our future. The question is: what does your picture look like? Do you see yourself rising higher, overcoming obstacles, living an abundant life? Do you dare to dream beyond your circumstances?

Today, why don’t you change your focus? Lift your eyes beyond your circumstances. Get a higher dream, a greater vision for your life. See yourself the way God sees you and move forward in the abundant life He has prepared for you!

Prayer for Today:
Father, today I choose to lift my eyes off my circumstances and look to You. Show me Your ways that I may walk with You on the path to victory all the days of my life in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Deep Reverential Respect

15junp166ba800x600.jpg
The Lord confides in those who fear him; he makes his covenant known to them.   My eyes are ever on the Lord, for only he will release my feet from the snare.
Psalm 25:14-15
New International Version

THOUGHTS ABOUT TODAY'S VERSE
Where does true deliverance come from?  Only from God. Salvation is found in God through deep reverential respect for his holiness and might,  through living in covenant
relationship with him, and through maintaining our focus on him.  Any other roads to salvation and deliverance are false and ultimately prove themselves to be a snare.

MY PRAYER
Precious Father, you have done so much to save me.  You who are so holy and righteous have reached down to take my hand. Teach me your ways.  Correct the wrongs in my life.  Guide me into your truth.  I want to not only be saved from my sin, but from days of uselessness and frustration.  Make me a vessel that can be used to honor you.   Through Jesus I pray.  Amen.

Kept In Perfect Peace

Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace, be still!” And the wind ceased and there was a great calm. But He said to them, “Why are you so fearful? How is it that you have no faith?”
Mark 4:39–40

I believe that one reason Jesus could calm the storm in this much-loved story was that He was the only one in the boat who was at peace. And what was within Him overflowed and affected the storm outside.

After Jesus had stilled the storm for His disciples, He corrected them for letting their hearts be troubled. And in His loving rebuke, He shows us how we can always have peace in our hearts. He asked His disciples, “Why are you so fearful? How is it that you have no faith?” In other words, “Why do you take so little from Me?”

Beloved, God loves you dearly and has already supplied you with His health, healing, provision and protection through the cross of Jesus. When you know and believe this, fear will flee and peace will rule in your heart. And His peace on the inside of you will cause every storm in your life to subside!

Results of Relentless Pursuit

Seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
Matthew 6:33
New International Version

THOUGHTS ABOUT TODAY'S VERSE
Seek -- pursue relentlessly -- God's Lordship over your life and the righteousness it demands in your daily life. What you pursue is all temporary; only God and his Kingdom remain. In the process, you will find that the God who gives you his Kingdom and righteousness also will bless you with the things that you need in this life

MY PRAYER
Holy Lord, only in you do I find what satisfies my soul's desires. The things that have captured my eye are boring after only a short while. The artificial things I have pursued, all of my addictive pursuits, have left me empty and enslaved. I find hope and help only in you. Please be near to love, correct, discipline, lead, and mold me to your glory. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.

Always Remember You Are God’s Beloved
And the Holy Spirit descended in bodily form like a dove upon Him, and a voice came from heaven which said, “You are My beloved Son; in You I am well pleased.”
Luke 3:22
Immediately after Jesus was baptized, He was led by the Holy Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. The devil came to Jesus and said, “If You are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread” (Matthew 4:3). Now, don’t forget that Jesus had just heard the voice of His Father affirming Him with the words “You are My beloved Son.” Years ago, as I was studying Jesus’ temptations by the devil, the Lord asked me, “Did you notice that the devil dropped one word when he came to tempt My Son?”
I had never heard anyone preach this before or read this in any book, but God opened my eyes to see that the devil had omitted the word “beloved”! God had just told Jesus, “You are My beloved Son.” But shortly after that, the devil came to Jesus, saying, “If You are the Son of God…” The word “beloved” is missing! The serpent had cunningly left it out!
The Lord then showed me that for the devil’s temptations to work, he cannot remind you that you are God’s beloved. The moment you are reminded of your identity as God’s beloved in Christ, he will not be able to succeed! It’s no wonder that the devil wants to rob believers of their sense of being God’s beloved. So don’t fall for the devil’s trick. Remind yourself today and every day that you are God’s beloved!
