All true ministry is "incarnational"

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.  He was with God in the beginning.  The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us.  We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.
--John 1:1-2 and 14
New International Version

THOUGHTS ABOUT TODAY'S VERSE
All true ministry is "incarnational" - it involves people to people contact, human touch, and genuine physical care.  While Heartlight is an Internet ministry, it will never live in cyberspace.  It must be carried into the daily life of believers who are committed to share the grace of Jesus with their FRANs (Friends, Relatives, Acquaintances, Neighbors). Just as God purposely sent Jesus at the right time to the right place, he did so with us.  We are here to bless others, "not just in word, but in deed and truth!"

MY PRAYER
Glorious Father, thank you for putting me where I am.  I know I am here to do your work and carry on Jesus' ministry. Help me seize the opportunities you give me today to bless others in the name of Jesus.  Through him I pray.  Amen.
Say "Yes" to His Yes!

Today's Scripture:
For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us.
II Corinthians 1:20, NKJV.

Today's Word:
When God laid out the plan for your life, He lined up the right people, the right breaks and the right open doors. In other words, He already had your “yeses” planned out--Yes, you can accomplish your dreams. Yes, you can overcome that obstacle. Yes, your children can fulfill their destiny. Yes you can succeed. YES is in your future!

The question is, are you going to say “yes” to God’s “yes”? Are you going to dare to believe Him—to get into agreement with His promises?
Start right now by declaring His promises over your life. Start declaring that He is good and that His plan will come to pass. Don’t let doubt and discouragements distract you, but keep your eyes fixed on Him because He is faithful. His promises are always yes and amen so say “yes” to His “yes”!

Prayer for Today:
Father, today I say Yes to You. I say “yes” to your promises and “yes” to Your ways. Help me to live a life pleasing to You and bring You glory in all that I say and do. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Great Things Beyond our Understanding

God's voice thunders in marvelous ways; he does great things beyond our understanding. He says to the snow, 'Fall on the earth,' and to the rain shower, 'Be a mighty downpour.'
--Job 37:5-6
New International Version

THOUGHTS ABOUT TODAY'S VERSE
Isn't that a beautiful phrase!  "God's voice thunders in marvelous ways; he does great things beyond our understanding."  Rather than spending a lot of time talking or thinking about how marvelous God is, let's praise him in prayer.

MY PRAYER
Holy, Righteous, and Eternal God, You alone are truly and fully holy. I cannot comprehend the distant outskirts of your ways. But I love you. You are so far beyond me on my best days, I can't quite understand why you would pay such a cost to redeem someone like me. But, Dear God, I thank you.  In Jesus name. Amen.
Say Continually

Today's Scripture:
Let them shout for joy and be glad, who favor my righteous cause; And let them say continually, ‘Let the LORD be magnified, Who has pleasure in the prosperity of His servant.’
Psalm 35:27, NKJV.

Today's Word:
Notice in today’s verse, God’s people were commanded to go around saying continually, “Let God be magnified. He takes pleasure in prospering me.” I believe one reason they were supposed to say it all the time is so it would get down on the inside of their hearts.

See, when we hear something long enough, we start to believe it. It starts to affect the way we see things. I wonder what would happen if, all through the day, we decided to stop dwelling on negative, defeated thoughts like, “I’ll never get out of debt. My business will never expand. How can I send my children to college? It’s so expensive.” And, what if you started dwelling on thoughts like, “God takes pleasure in prospering me. Good breaks are in my future. Explosive blessings are coming my way?”

Today, let the truth of God’s Word sink down into your heart. All throughout the day, declare His goodness. Declare His faithfulness. Declare His blessings because He delights in seeing you prosper!

Prayer for Today:
Father, thank You for Your goodness. Thank You for finding joy in seeing me succeed. Help me to see my life the way you see it. Help me to see and declare the blessing and victory You have for me in Jesus’ name. Amen.

The Strength To Seize The Moment

Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring forth.
Proverbs 27:1
New International Version

THOUGHTS ABOUT TODAY'S VERSE
Don't you have your hands full with today? Don't you find yourself distracted from the urgent and important things of today by worrying about the problems of tomorrow and fantasizing about all the possibilities down the road? Isn't it a waste of time to be anxious about those things you have no influence over? So why...?

MY PRAYER
God, give me the strength to seize the moment and live the life today that will please you and bless others. Help my heart feel the urgency of today and act with boldness, kindness, and salvation instead of worrying so much about what may happen. Give me the immediacy of the moment I see in your son's ministry. Through whom I pray. Amen.
Push People Up

Today's Scripture:
Two are better than one…if either of them falls down, one can help the other up…
Ecclesiastes 4:9-10, NIV.

Today's Word:
We all need somebody to believe in us more than we believe in ourselves. We all need people who will push us up, so to speak. After all, there are enough people trying to push us down in life. There are enough people telling us what we can’t become and how we don’t have what it takes.
I know in my own life, I wouldn’t be half of who I am if it were not for Victoria. She has spoken so much faith into me. She has called out the potential on the inside.
I believe we all have the responsibility to do this for others. Let’s push people up. Let’s look with our eyes of faith and see their potential and tell them what they can become. If you will be that person for somebody else, God will make sure somebody will be that person for you.
Friend, every person has seeds of greatness inside. You can cause your children to rise to a new level. You can be the catalyst for your family to do things they never thought possible. Your words have creative power. When you speak vision, that can be the seed God uses to thrust them to a new level.

Prayer for Today:
Father, today I commit to push people up. I choose to speak life and call forth the seeds of greatness within. Thank You for using me to help others fulfill their destiny in Jesus’ name. Amen.

God wants to Dine with you!!!

These are the words of the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the ruler of God's creation. "Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me.
Revelation 3:14 and 20
New International Version
THOUGHTS ABOUT TODAY'S VERSE
It has always fascinated me that this verse has often been cited by those calling others to conversion when clearly in its context it's written to lukewarm Christians needing to rekindle their love relationship to the Lord. As believers, we need to ask the Lord Jesus into our hearts, our home, and lives. It's not that he's not there, it's just that he awaits our invitation -- he will not barge in. He only inhabits hearts into which he has been invited!
MY PRAYER
Holy Lord and Savior, I know you long to share your presence and fellowship with me. I know you are nearby as I draw each breath. But I confess that I am often unaware, and even sometimes unappreciative of your presence. I ask you this day to come into my heart and fill my life with your presence and comfort and power. I want my life to be lived for you and with you. Amen.
The Secret To Loving Jesus Much
Therefore I say to you, her sins, which are many, are forgiven, for she loved much. But to whom little is forgiven, the same loves little.
Luke 7:47
Remember the story of the woman who washed Jesus’ feet with her tears, wiped them with her hair and anointed them with fragrant oil? Jesus pointed out to the Pharisee in whose house she did this that this woman loved Him much because she knew that she was forgiven much.
In actuality, none of us have been forgiven little. We have all been forgiven much. As for this woman, she knew it. Do you?
Beloved, if you think that you have been forgiven little, then you will love little. But when you know the truth of how much you have been forgiven, you will love Jesus much. Knowing how much you have been forgiven is the secret to loving Jesus! In other words, you will only love Jesus much when you experience His lavish grace and unmerited favor in forgiving you of all your sins—past, present and future—by His one sacrifice at the cross.
So don’t worry about loving Jesus. Just meditate on how totally and completely He has forgiven you, and loving Him much will be your natural response!

He Crowns The Humble

For the Lord takes delight in his people; he crowns the humble with salvation.
Psalm 149:4
New International Version
THOUGHTS ABOUT TODAY'S VERSE
Jesus, who left heaven and made himself a servant, did so to enable the last to be first, the servant to be greatest, and the least to be best. For ages, the arrogant, abusive and the powerful have found it easy to reject the call of Christ. But those who are humble find him to not only be Savior, but also Conqueror.
MY PRAYER
Precious Servant, Almighty King, thank you for coming to our world and serving us at great cost and showing us that we can reign with you. I look forward to the day every other knee will join mine as I bow before you as my Lord. Until that day, I pray that you will use me to bless those so often forgotten by our busy and glamour-intoxicated world. Amen.
Guard Your Heart
Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life
Proverbs 4:23, NLT.
The Bible tells us that the heart is where the issues of life spring forth. What we allow to enter our hearts will affect our thoughts, actions and even our bodies. In other words, the condition of one’s heart determines the course of one’s life!
That is why Jesus, who bequeathed to us His peace, tells us, “…Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid” (John 14:27). So if we want to walk in His peace and rest, we need to guard our hearts and not let them spiral into negative thoughts, worry and fear. The Book of Wisdom also tells us that a peaceful and cheerful heart promotes health (Proverbs 17:22).
Beloved, there may be many things in our lives that we want to “guard,” such as our families, health or careers. But God wants us to guard our hearts above all else, and He will guard the rest!
